Studies show that girls are more likely to suffer delays in diagnosis and treatment – especially compared with boys – and have difficulties that last well into their adult years. By their older adolescence and early adulthood, girls with ADHD are at a significantly increased risk for serious outcomes.”

According to a recent study, females with ADHD report lower self-esteem, higher anxiety, and more shame than their male counterparts.

What are Executive Functioning Skills?

ADHD isn’t just about attention and focus. In fact, many girls with ADHD do not struggle with focusing. Individuals with ADHD struggle with the executive functions of the brain.

Executive function refers to the cognitive skills we use to plan, organize, and manage our tasks and behaviors, allowing us to achieve goals and adapt to new situations. It's essentially the brain's "control panel" for higher-level thinking, enabling us to set goals, focus attention, and regulate our actions.

The good news is that executive functioning skills can be learned.

Executive functioning coaching enables a student to build the necessary skills in these areas so that she can thrive not only in school, but in all aspects of her life.
